EPIC 40.000
At first glance you might think to yourself, "Epic 40,000 is just a smaller version of Warhammer 40,000, right?" Well, the answer to that is "No it's not, but there is a connection." The Warhammer 40,000 universe is a wide, rich and diverse place where the only real constant is complete and unending war. Warhammer 40,000 is a 28mm squad based game which utilizes forces of about 50-100 models in an average conflict. The combat system, weapon details and overall flow of the action has been developed to represent small to medium scale skirmishes between individual detachments rather than battle between entire army groups. On the other hand, Epic 40,000 tackles the more tactical and sweeping conflicts which take place between entire armies or groups of armies on a much larger scale than Warhammer 40,000. The 6-7mm scale of an average human trooper in Epic allows for war machines and other equipment which would be much too large to be practically represented on a 28mm battlefield (although some of the more fanatical gamers out there do so) to be easily placed on the tabletop with, for example, a 6 inch tall Emperor Titan miniature. Combats are won and lost not so much on the individual prowess of great heroes or even the combat skills of elite units, but more on strength of numbers and the tactics a commander uses to gain vital objectives and key battlefield locations.
